In its literal sense, the Swahili word "muntu" means "soul" or "essence of mankind."
The story of the first eleven years of the MUNTU® symbol was written up and is now in the Library of Congress. The MUNTU® symbol has twice been nominated for a United States Commemorative Postal Stamp, was written up in the United States Congressional Record and is on permanent display in the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
